Wild West 2015 - Day 1 - 5

Day 1 - 4
Sept 27:  After participating in The Garlic Festival, we raced home to pick the garden, do some last minute errands, and hug the house sitter and watchdog.  The rv refrigerator was STUFFED to the brim with garden veggies, some prepared meals,
And anything we could need for a week.  Except wine….more on that later.  We drove about 3 hours and landed at the Mohegan Sun Casino @ Pocono Downs to spend the night in their parking lot (along with a handful of other rv’s of various sizes and shapes).  Should have put some ear plugs in to dull the “city” noises (train, car alarms, voices, etc).  We avoided construction traffic on routes 84 and 81 and commuter traffic as well.

Sept 28:  Drive from Wilkes Barre, PA to Peru, IL.  Overnight parking in Walmart parking lot…a quiet night.  14+ hours on the road today.  I/Donna deserve awards…too much sitting for this girl!

Sept 29:  Drive from Peru, IL to Lexington, NE.  Columbia/eddy Bauer Outlets in Iowa.  Oakleaf and Franzia wine in Illinois (Iowa has them too supposedly)…had to stop in several Walmarts to get 9 or 10 boxes.  TOO much sitting!  Overnight parking in Walmart in Lexington.

Sept 30:  Drive from Lexington, NE to Eagle Colorado.  Overnight in the Eagle visitors center and rest area..streamside.

Day 5:

Rabbit Valley Recreation Area free camping
October 1:  Glenwood Springs…hot spring fed huge pool, swimming and get the kinks out from sitting so long getting out here.  Overnight in Rabbit Valley Recreation area and I  did see a rabbit.  Good Verizon cell service, could hear the highway despite being in ½ mile but wide open views.  No trees here!
