Utah, Day 13 - Dixie National Forest, Utah

Day 13:
October 9/Friday:
A quiet night in our own boondocking spot and up early to take a walk on the trail behind our rv.  Walked about 2 miles, took a bunch of photos and off we went to explore scenic route 12 in Utah.

Enter Dixie National Forest. Oh my it was pure ecstasy to be in an actual forest and out of the canyons for awhile.  Aspens and evergeens, crisp cool air, 9000+ foot mountains and to die for panoramic views at the overlooks.  Well we checked out a few of the free dispersed camping spots and they were not for us…a little too rutted. Sooo, down the other side of the mountain.  We are camping for the night at Deer Creek Lake Trailhead. Next time we go through here, I will spring for the $10 and stay in one of the campgrounds, bypass the free.  This side of the mountain is heavy on the Aspens and devoid of evergreens (boohoo)…but I am loving the Aspens.  I took tons of pictures of them in full gold.

After an early dinner we took a walk up the trail for about a mile and then turned around.  There is one other camper here.  The very happy, grass fed, free range cows are company for us.  It is chilly up here at 9000 feet.
Walking west of Capitol Reef...early morning walk.
