Day 10:
October 6/Tues: Because there were still rain clouds in the
sky, I suggested we take Graham’s truck (since we had it) to go reconnoiter and
see how the road was. There was clay/mud
in a few spots and last night the “flood area” was running a few inches deep
with mud (not for our rv) and moving rather quickly in the wash. This morning it looked good enough to make it
out and we did successfully but another rain would have put us there for
several days (not really an issue as we had plenty of everything (food,
tankage, water). I did not want to spend a few more days there.
Spent half the day in
Green River buying melons (melon capital!), dumping, taking on water, using
wifi, grocery shopping. Getting some gas to make sure we make it to Cedar City
in a week or so. David had to resecure
the metal panel that prevents his add on water tank from melting as it had
almost fallen all the way off. He also
had to buy and install muffler clamps (the cheap ones had broken/fallen off.
Spending the night just outside Goblin Valley State Park on
BLM land (OUR lands) complete with night sky/stars and wide open spaces.
Goblins Valley State Park is also a great park
to grab a campsite but the BLM lands are our favorite and very cost effective.
We managed to get one of the sites we wanted
as there was no one on any of the ones we prefer (the national parks are not
closed this time!).
We drove under 60
miles today…nice.
