Day 23: Relaxing in Zion

Like a post card from Zion National Park - Narrows hike

Monday, Oct 21

Today was relaxing day.  We cleaned the bugs off the front of our rv and wiped it down well.  The bugs were from the trip from NY to Colorado and we just never managed to get them off.  See our tip for getting them off easily and quickly.  We will wax it one of these days.

Fall in Zion National Park

We took a short walk of two miles to the beginning of the Narrows hike.  You hike in water so we weren’t prepared for that.  I took lots of pictures and am thinking about doing a painting of zion scenery when I have some time.

Colorful Zion

Dinner at Pizza & Noodles restaurant.  I read reviews and they were favorable so off we went to catch the shuttle.  Love the shuttle service…leave the driving to them.

Here is where the water hiking begins

Evening in front of the fire with son, Graham’s leftover firewood…which was just wood they picked up along the road in their two week travels in Utah.

Check out that sky!
Notes to self on Zion:  the Thursday and Friday we arrived were either Mormon school holiday, teacher's education day, or hunting/harvest days (we heard all three) so there were lots of kids everywhere and a full campground.  Monday came and there were some spaces in campground and trails a bit less crowded and no kids.  If we go again, go even later in October, early November (this  year Nov 3 ends the shuttle busses but they go on weekends) or after shuttles close and chance some freezing weather/go as walk in camper with no reservations.

Notes to self on Utah:  Don't buy beer in Utah unless it is in a liquor store otherwise you get the 3.2% beer...which tastes bad.
