Day 10: Dead Horse State Park...first day of three

Dead Horse State Park

Tues, Oct 8

We left our roadside digs early to see if we could score a site at Dead Horse State Park.  David was betting that with the National Parks closed (Arches and Canyonlands are very close) that we would get a big no.  Even though we were there just after opening, there were quite a few cars at the visitor's center.  They were doing a brisk business in souvenirs and entry fees.

After waiting in line for maybe 10 minutes, we scored a walk in site.  We got one for three nights with the possibility of reupping after that.  No showers but we have plenty of water on board and electric is at the site….woohooo a working clock, we can watch a movie…civilization is nice sometimes!

Awesome!

There is also a dish washing sink that we will use.  Conserving as the water is trucked up from Moab.  We discovered we left our mat at Goblin Valley…a nice mud rubbing mat…Camping World will provide.

Short bike ride (with hill) out to Dead Horse point….awe inspiring!  Parked our bikes and walked around.  This is where most of the people were as you could drive right there and walk very little.

Early Dinner and a 3 mile hike out to Big Horn Overlook.  We did have internet access in this park.
