Day 33/June 5, 2016 Dildo Provincial Park to Otter Pond Trail Head
There is a 2km hiking trail here so we did that
walking from our campsite on the opposite side of park…maybe 3 miles
total. There were nesting Goshawks
towards the end of the trail so they closed it off…aggressive Goshawks. We went in armed with sticks only to find it
closed at the end…lol!
I asked about the “boil water for 5 minutes” thing
posted at Dildo Provincial Park and got an answer that basically said. The park had only been open for a couple of
days so the inspectors hadn’t yet inspected the system so they were required to
put up the sign. Usually though the
water is good.
Today our rv took us up route 350 to Leading
Tickles (yeah that is the name of the town).
A rather quiet very rural road with houses few and far between until we
got to the harbor at the end where it fleshed out a bit. We spotted a grounded
iceberg when we came into Leading Tickles…a nice sized one. There was a trail
at the end of the road (Ocean View Trail, I believe) that we walked. It took us to a beach and then to a picnic
table with an awesome view of ocean, islands, headlands. On the way to Leading Tickles we saw a sign
for another trail and headed for that to make dinner and stay the night. We will park overnight at the Otter Pond
Trailhead in Port Leamington. It is
about ¼ mile off the road so it is perfect for this Sunday night.
