Day 28 - Woodlot north of Gander, NL to Fogo Island, NL

Artist's studio
Day 28/May 31, 2016 A woodlot north of Gander, NL to Fogo Island, NL We left our Resource lot on route 330 early to get some heat going and get in line for the ferry to Fogo Island (no other rv’s by the way and have not seen any other than going over to NL that are not from NL). Breakfast made and consumed while waiting in line. I got my first Woman of Wisdom discount (senior discount)…which saved us a few bucks on the ferry cost. Ferry was small and full.

Deep Bay
The ride was about one hour. The woman at the Visitor information center was very helpful with our rv questions (where can we get fresh water if we need to/the campground will provide even if we are not staying, where are there dump stations/3 on fogo, free wifi/school, hikes, museum, artist-in-residence studios /although only open for special events. We spent the day driving around methodically. Walking trails…short ones for this day. A nice coastal trail at Joe Batt’s Arm and the Long house there (artist in residence)…a gorgeous modern design…kept us busy after dinner for a couple of hours.

Walked to tower studio (another artist in residence) and scoped out more trails for tomorrow (longer). It only rained a little in the morning today. Fogo Island is very scenic and the people are all very friendly and helpful. We are staying in Sandy Cove at a service club park. Walk on the beach completes the evening. Tilting is an Irish community and very picturesque.
