Day 16 - KOA, New Harris, NS - ferry to NL - Rose Blanche, NL

Day 16/May 19, 2016  New Harris, NS KOA Campground to Rose Blanche, Newfoundland (NL)

The Rv lineup for loading onto ferry
We needed to be at the terminal no later than 9:45 am for our 11:45 am departure from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland.  A bright sunny crisp day greeted us…life is good.  Food was prepped, house cleaned and ready to wait in line.  Hurry up and wait.  We drove on at approximately 10:15 am.

No wifi on board this time.  The weather was calm and beautiful for crossing; we arrived at 5:45 pm.  There were approximately 10 rv/recreation vehicles on the ferry (about 8 more than last time).

When our turn to disembark came, wee headed east towards Rose Blanche to find a place to overnight.  We ended up staying at the Rose Blanche Lighthouse to spend the night (this might not fly on season but it was okay for now).  We immediately (7:30 pm) took off for a walk on trail to the lighthouse and around it.  After the 6+ hour ferry ride and no walk this morning it felt good…it was rather cold  and windy.  This is a VERY neat stone lighthouse and we are so glad we got to visit it.  This lighthouse to my utter surprise receives about 7,000 visitors annually…a lot in this part of the world. Our class C was able to negotiate the narrower roads and ups and downs but anything bigger should not.

Along the way to Rose Blanche there are other smaller communities like Burnt Island and Harbor LeCou.  Small communities of approximately 700 people each perched on rocks.

There is still some bits of snow hereJ  Newfoundland is a land of much water and this area (around port aux basques) is no exception…around every bend there is a lake on your left and on your right.
