Day 13 - Mary Joseph, NS to a radio tower somewhere along route 344 in NS

Day 13/May 16, 2016  Mary Joseph, NS to a radio tower somewhere along route 344 in NS…

Our stops today included:
Port Bickerton: hiking the trails there on a very windy day but a nice little park.
Tor Bay Provincial Park: a day use park where we walked the beach/boardwalk.
Canso…just to check it out but no free overnight parking so we didn’t stay.

It was getting to be later than I wished and we still didn’t have an overnight spot picked out so standards were dropping.

We ended up at a radio tower set back off the road along route 344 west of Canso with a scenic view of a pond.

We found the eastern shore of Nova Scotia to be even more rural with considerably less fishing going on.

This is more forested than the other areas.  One of the roads, route 316, was pretty rough and needed to be resurfaced….going was slow.

Went to sleep to the sound of spring peepers/tree frogs churping away and there were LOTS of them due to location.

Wildlife sightings today:  a fox, a porcupine, 3 deer.
