DAY 17 Enroute to St. John's

June 5, 2013
It was noisy last night…the flag at the visitor’s center was making a racket with the wind…but nothing some cotton stuffed in my ears wouldn’t fixJ  64 degrees outside this a.m.  Things are heating up!

We had breakfast at the restaurant portion of Irving Gas Station.  On the  road…in the first hour, the weather went from sunny, to periodic bouts of thick fog and back to sun again.  St. John’s welcomed us with sunshine and lots of wind.  72 degree high today.

We have had a hard time finding water to fill up our rv fresh water  tank.  Any of the state parks (where we can get it for free) have had boil bans on and we don’t want to fill up our tank with something that needs to be boiled to use.  I guess our next option is to get some water at a regular campground where they have some sort of filtration system but there will be a charge.

The search for propane…we asked in Bonavista, they sent us to Clarenville,  Clarenville sent us to St. Johns.  We asked in St. John’s and there was only one place that sold it.  So we got filled up.  He said, that the next place he knows of is Gander…so we need to make sure we keep asking and keep filled before we head up to Labrador.

Here is the only place in St. John’s to get propane put into your motorhome (meaning not into a portable propane tank):  Eastern Propane, 5 Clyde Ave, Mt. Pearl, NL  (709) 747-5501    sales@easternpropane.ca   www.easternpropane.ca  Current as of June 5, 2013.

A stop at Middle Cove (read about the rogue waves online)...and watch for them! A short hike in Pouch Cove.
Picturesque Middle Cover On a nice day

Our first day in St. John’s was spent doing errands.  This was back to civilization for us…lots of cars and traffic!   We spent the night in our rv the Walmart on Aberdeen Avenue in St. John’s.
