Touring the Gaspe' Peninsula from New York's Hudson Valley - Day 1 - 3

Sept 29:   NY to Drummondville, Quebec Walmart…left home at 9:30 am (running around picking veggies from the garden, washing them and hoping they would get through customs.  We had OJ, 6 pieces of cooked chicken, almond milk, some jarred things like jam, mustard and pretty much the rest was some sort of veggies.  Customs was interesting they asked if we had any guns and then added mace to the list.

David said, “uh wait a minute I think I have some mace for biking.”  Me: WHATTTTT?
Anyway that triggered paperwork that I had to go in an fill out and they took the mace away (fine with me).   So, they never looked in the motorhome.  I got to keep all my veggies! And I might add that pretty much nothing else would have fit in that refrigerator as it was pretty stuffed with veggies…I was in luck!

Sept 30:  Drummondville Walmart to Rimouski Walmart and because we took the slower scenic route it took way longer than I thought it would….pretty much all day really with stops of interest and lunch/snacks.  Overnight at Rimouski Walmart.

October 1:  This was really our first touring day and we stopped at three lighthouses…Pointe-au-Pere, La Martre and Sainte Madeleine-de-la-Riviere-Madeleine.  We are spending the night at the Madeleine lighthouse (which actually has a working light on it). There is, of course, no one else here.  All of the lighthouses were very different.

We also noticed that a fair amount of the sites up here in Quebec don’t have
English translations; any national sites do, however.  We have an only-slightly-useful travel phrasebook/dictionary with us.  We are finding it slightly hard to find free camping (we have now run out of Walmarts until we get to New Brunswick).  Every rest area, scenic area pretty much states no camping.

Oh, yeah, wind power

These wind blades are really huge.

Contemplated overnighting here but it was by the road..not
that there was a lot of traffic...
