Day 17: Coastal Maine

Wednesday, Oct 15 2014

Cobs cook Bay State park...settled in.
Take a walk around the park and head off down the coast.  Stopped at Maine Coast Sea Vegetables to get some supernutricious sea veggies. I know, not your average tourist destination or food! Bought a whopping two lbs. of seaweed to eat (just me).

Overnight at Lamoine Beach off route 184…with view of Bar Harbor and Acadia.  Took a nice walk on the beach and noticed A cruise ship across the water and down by Bar Harbor.

Kept walking and another one came into view, kept walking and the last one came into view...ugh.  I was amazed that at this time of year there would be so many.  The next morning we would reluctantly go to Bar Harbor and Acadia...
The weather has held nicely for us...average temps are considerably colder than what we experienced on this trip.

Day 16: New Brunswick and into Maine

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Up early to depart Cape Enrage.  Weren’t sure where we would end up today but our motorhome brought us to Cobscook Bay State Park in Maine…off route 1 along the coast route.  Customs returning to the USA?  I got a lime and 3 tomatoes taken away (and old lime and I had more tomatoes in the “root cellar") but she only took the ones she saw on the counter.  Citrus is never allowed back in usa (even though that is where this one came from but no sticker on it).  $19.45 got us a nice, well treed park with a view of Whiting Bay.  I think there are 3 campsites occupied when we arrived and that includes us.  UPDATE:  about five more motorhomes came in while we were out walking and sun was setting.

Day 15: Cape Enrage on Fundy Coast

Monday, October 13, 2014 – Happy Thanksgiving to All Canadians
A not so quiet night was spent at Walmart in Moncton.  The store was closed yet the proximity to wendys/timmy’s/burger king brought on all sorts of noises especially earlier in the morning than I would have liked.  There was also some paving going on that we wouldn't have know about. Trash trucks, etc.

You get what you pay for sometimes.  Drive to Cape Enrage on the Fundy Coast on ziggy zaggy up and down roads.  We arrived at the lowest tide by pure dumb luck so we got to see the full range of tides…some 30 feet.  The wind was ferocious today...almost blowing me off my feet.  Since today was a Canadian holiday, there were many people stopping to view the tides (but none of them saw the whole range…not one!) Overnight at Cape Enrage with the wind shaking the motorhome.

Cape Enrage...tide out

Day 14: PEI and heading back into New Brunswick

Sunday, October 12, 2014

Cedar Dunes Provincial Park
When the wind kicked up last night, the noise from one of the closest windmills could be heard whirring but otherwise quiet night with just us.  Weather holding nicely with nighttime temps in the low 50’s right now.  Cold and very windy this a.m.   Walking on the beach of Cedar Dunes Provincial Park.  It was closed but we walked into the beach….nice!

Drive to Summerside Walmart. Bought 10 lb.s of apples before we left PEI…tried to find 50 lb.s of spuds but couldn’t on the way out.  Continue on to Monction Walmart in New Brunswick.  Overnight at Walmart in Moncton as this was a last resort…couldn’t find anything else along our route.

Day 13: Prince Edward Island

Saturday, October 11, 2014

Drive from Fortune Bay a strait shot to Summerside to get some drinking water at Walmart and begin exploring the left coast.  With an early start, we decided we didn't need to go the whole way along the coast.

Wind Energy Institute of Canada...
our overnight spot for the night.

Therefore, we zoomed to North Cape and visited the Wind Energy Institute of Canada…an experimental wind farm.  I love wind power!  Walk.  Parked overnight in the parking lot with no one bothering us.  Locals seemed to favor dining at the Restaurant there as there really was no where else to dine in this part of PEI.

Day 12: More of Prince Edward Island

Friday, Oct 10, 2014:

Red Point Provincial Park
Driving today from North Rustico to East Point Lighthouse…stopping at a few beaches along the way to take a walk and to dump at Red Point Provincial Park (it is closed). Nice beach walk and nice little park.  We are seeing a few tour busses here and there…makes me wonder just how bad it is in summer and this was on back roads not tourist routes.  Overnight at the Wharf in Fortune Bay…quiet.
