Sun, Oct 5: Big Sandy reservoir to McCoy road, vernal Utah
Woke to being socked in by clouds. The plus side I'd never been in the desert after a rain. The SMELL is wonderful! We rolled around 7:45am...weather is getting a bit cold at night....don't want freezing temps. There is a little park south of Farson, WY that could be used as an ONP spot. A stop at Walmart in Rock springs, WY and get gas $3.19 per gallon...too much...been below $3.00. We already reworked yesterday's plan to go further south with no stop at Flaming Gorge...a cold spell and we don't need to be there. This time we went via 191 and the eastern side of Flaming Gorge. We hadn't done that in about 4 years. Same next time! Stopped in Vernal to figure out where to stay tonight...was going to be walmart but too busy and not a big parking lot considering the people shopping. Zoomed Kaete/Hayes and had lunch at Denny's for a treat. Zoomed Finley/Brett later one.
We decided to stay at BLM area Mccoy road south of Vernal. It took us a bit to find a spot. The first one was just too much trash. We dragged the hitch on the final chosen spot but it was quiet and more quiet than the first one. Took a walk and leftovers for dinner.
