Sat, Oct 11: Private HOT SPRING to Ward Mountain Recreation Area
First thing soak in hot spring...made it warmer this morning as it was cooler out and a cooler walk to the rv. Rain is coming. Walk 2 miles. Windy again today. We had sand coming in our windows yesterday because it was a bit too warm to close it all up. Made the decision to just drive, drive, drive to get to Ward Mountain Recreation Area just south of Ely, NV because I need to be in Ely/civilization for a zoom meeting on Monday and dark clouds. We did get rain...just as we had parked in our campsite on Ward Mountain (newly renovated)...dark grey sky. We got a pull thru site (#1) BUT since government is not in full force and this is a National Rec Area, there were no envelopes to pay and scan and pay was fritzing out. It appeared to be the only pull thru site (someone left a grill hidden behind bushes but nothing else to say it was occupied sooooooo its ours). No tag or note on the post either. I am wondering if anyone else paid. I tried the recreation.gov site as well...nope. This time of year water is turned off in the park BUT there is a big dumpster and we had 5? days worth of trash get rid of! Early dinner because no lunch and it was leftovers from last night....gf pasta with sausage, peppers, onions, parmesan cheese.
