Sun, Oct 3:  Powder River Road/NFS dispersed camping

A quiet night of course…one truck went by while we were setting up and there was a tent and rv (both with no cars or trucks) set up when we drove in.  Lots of pine/spruce trees but no fires allowed due to dry weather and that has been the story the whole way except for Custer SP. 33 degrees when I woke this morning.  With heat set at the lowest (45?) and lots of quilts, I was toasty.  Mr. Buddy is cranking…aiming to use up almost all of the coleman cannisters David refilled and just use heat on the wall.   This will allow us to put trash/recycles in the box we have on rear of rv.  We brought a 20 lb. propane tank that is affixed to the tire rack on back…so don’t hit us or we are all going up in flames!  We can get a 20lb tank filled anywhere but getting the inhouse propane tank can sometimes be an issue.

Today was spent exploring the area by jeep and me getting used to the high elevation…had a minor headache going on that naproxen sodium would not touch….so a bit subdued.  No real hikes or I will be gasping for breath.  There were other people further on back on our forest road and a fair amount of empty spaces. Going from 4200 feet in elevation to 9200 is a big switch especially for me.

A lovely grilled dinner of steak, grilled asparagus/gold zucchini, air fryer sweet potatoes…YUM!  AND david grilled.
