Sat, Oct 2:  Steer pasture Overlook to Powder River Road/NFS in Big Horn mountains, Buffalo, WY

We left the overlook this morning early along with at least a handful of others and drove through Badlands National Park…lovely.  No dogs on trails, BOO HISS and not a bark park!  A stop at walmart in Rapid City to restock, some gas and into Wyoming we went.  It took us all day to do this…a five hour ride took all day with stops everywhere and we arrived at our destination around 6pm.  Mali and I were on the verge of getting HANGRY…too much driving and hungry makes for cranky girls!  We got a stupendous spacious spot and dinner was nibbles or whatever you could find to keep yourself alive/not cooking.  Our drive just east of Gillette, WY was up some down some and we pretty much had to get an elevation gain of 5,000 feet from Rapid City walmart.  Every time I thought, “okay this is it we are just going up, we would have some down, down, up and lose what we gained.  Finally we made it there and found a spacious spot with enough flat.  Small patches of snow on the ground…whoopie but no precipitation is in the forecast and we are counting on it.  Aim to stay a few days at this high elevation of 9217 feet!  No cell service here or internet; a first during our travels this year.  A technology free couple of days.
