Day 25: Tuesday, Oct 23, 2018 - Canyonlands BLM free camping!

Day 25: Tuesday, Oct 23

We left VOG early just after breakfast and headed to Canyonlands area hoping to stay in a BLM campground ($7.50 with old guy pass) or FREE blm lands camping.  Laundry and some shopping along the way.  Midafternoon we arrived at the Hamburger Rock Campground and found a spot BUT having to pay $7.50 was not the perfect option (it was a drive-through site though!).  Most of the sites were really for tent campers and thus were small or not level enough for larger vehicle AND toad.  $7.50 got you a pit toilet and some awesome views and neighbors.

David went off with Mali in Jeep down Lockhart Road to see what else he could find while I held the pay campsite for a short bit.  He came back with three choices and all less than a mile away…I picked one spacious one with a campfire ring to go with the wood that David had found.  We took off in the Jeep to see if there was anymore firewood and to look around.  Still nice views but now free and larger.  Mali was great the whole day just sleeping or laying on my lap while we travelled.  BUT OMG when she got out at the campsite (on a long line 50 feet) she was a wild thing to the max going after birds and hopping around like a maniac!  We played ball for awhile and that took some of the madness away so she could settle when it got dark…..  Note to self run her more during the day!
