Day 29, Saturday, October 1: Old Settlers Campground/Burlington, ND to
We were on the road by 8am and rolling towards Williston, ND. Its autumn in North Dakota and the trees we saw were a lovely gold/green/red and the rolling sometimes flat hills were all gold and being harvested. A lovely drive except for the wind….
A stop at walmart/Williston just because and a stop to pick up a package in Williston. It was our intention that there would be a first come, first served site at Theordore Roosevelt National Park/North unit. I was pretty surprised when the campground just had a few campers in it (on a Saturday too) and we had lots to pick from…many pull throughs. $3.50 per night starting today for trash, dump, water, and a spot for two nights.
We walked around campground and then the rain began to get serious. Off to drive the park road (we went to this park last year but decided to stop)…great fall colors and heck at $3.50, I was not going to miss that. No host this time of year.
My goal to only camp for free is not happening so far this year but the top price we’ve paid is $15 per night and the least $3.50 but I know that after this it will be free mostly.
We have also decided to plan a future trip to Alaska! Which was never on my list but they do have northern lights and David is NOT going without me.
Walk in the evening.
Campground still has many spaces available.
I think we may have finally killed all the flies we accumulated in MI, WI, ND…a battle…always a few in coach.
