Donna on the beach in LaScie |
Today we drove from Green Bay to La Scie, NL. The road in is a bit pot hole ridden so it was slower than expected. La Scie is a nice coastal village with a campground that overlooks the water. After last night’s rain, we drove in with the fog. We could barely see anything along the way nor the town when we got here. Some of the fog lifted throughout the day so we could actually see the quiet little town. We walked a few of the trails from the campground. Twice we went to see the icebergs that are grounded in the next cove over. The first time it was very foggy; the second time worked well for pictures. There were three larger ones and some bergy bits. NICE…don’t get to see them in New York. Laundry at the campground and wifi at the Library.
Harbor at La Scie |
Full
service site so we get electric for $20 and water at the site. Luxurious!

We
have now taken about 1,000 pictures…not all of them masterpieces.
Looks like a Christmas Tree! |
There
is a boil ban on for this municipal campground as well. Beverly, the manager, reports that they
always put up that sign because she feels that people who are not used to
drinking their water might get sick. It
is pond water basically. So we are going
to fill our tanks with it and just not drink it. We have been drinking bottled water anyway so
that we have the tank water to use for showers, cooking, washing dishes…just
another way to carry more water.

Icebers...we found them! |
There
are three people staying in this campground with us. It was a ride of 1.5 hours from the TCH (Trans
Canada Highway) but thought it would be full just the same as it is Saturday. HOWEVER, there are not many people living on
this peninsula. One couple is from
Germany and the other from Ontario. The
ride was worth the views and icebergs!
We have not yet decided if we will stay another night or not as we want
to make a few stops on this peninsula before we head to Gros Morne National
Park.
