Quidi Vidi Village |
June 7, 2013
Today
our rv took us to Signal Hill in St. John’s …. It was windy as could be. From Signal Hill we got a great view of the
harbor and downtown area. St. John’s is
a sprawling city with even more expansion going on. Downtown has the older buildings with real
character and history. There are
walking paths there…some pretty exposed that they close in high winds (which I
think they were in the process of doing while we were there). Blow you off the cliffs!

Next
we went on to Cape Spear Lighthouse, the eastern most point in North
America. It was about a 30 minute drive from St. John’s. There is WWII history there; it saw no action
but Americans and Canadians

Now
we head south through picturesque villages like Petty Harbour. We stopped in La Manche Provincial Park to do
laundry and because it was a weekend, families were streaming in! Ferryland to take some pictures.

I love this playhouse! |
Dinner
of freshly prepared burritos in the parking lot of a cemetery enroute…ha!
Overnight
in the town of Renew (pulloff by the interpretive panels). We are finding plenty of places to overnight for free in Newfoundland with our 24 foot class c/no toad. Free camping in Newfoundland is our preference as we don't really need anything (mostly) from the campgrounds.
