Day 6 - Goblin Valley State Park, UT

Friday, Oct 4:  Day 6

Goblins
Fine weather brought us to Goblin Valley State Park where we purchased a Utah state park pass ($75 for a year).  The ranger told us we would need to go into a state park ten times to get our money back...no problem we will squeeze the $75 and then some out of the state park.  With the Fed Parks closed we were going to use Utah State Parks well.

We also planned to use the pass to take on water and dump our tanks where possible.    Much of the day was spent in the park hiking around and checking out the stone goblins..quite unique.

At 2 pm we headed out to find a place to park for the night.  I was really hoping to score a good secluded spot...We did!  A b+ rv had been in our spot that morning so when I spotted it empty, we hopped to it…happy to have procured a prime spot away from the road.  By the way, the park was pretty bustling yesterday, a sign of the closed Arches National Park less than one hour away and Canyonlands as well.

Our hike

After a late lunch, we took off to explore into the wash area behind us (nice weather so no worries about water coming down).  Nice walk.   A quiet night but with splotchy clouds not a good night to view the night sky (without the light pollution like we have in the northeast)…tomorrow.

Gorgeous scenery during our hike
Don't have these in NY!

For scale...
