Day 17: Page to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park - UT

Overnight in Page AZ Walmart
Tues, Oct 15

Originally we parked at Walmart to overnight but then decided that behind McDonald’s or Taco Bell would be more quiet.  After and hour or so behind McDonalds we got tired of hearing the voices at the take out window

Glen Canyon Dam/Lake Powell
And moved back to Walmart.  Except for the 6 am trash truck, it was quiet with maybe 10 other rv’s parked As well. Being so closed to Walmart gave Donna the opportunity for very early shopping looking for bargain markdowns.  She found some nice shirts for $2 all while David slept!

Lake Powell
We left Page pretty early to get on with our quest to get closer to Zion National park for Thursday’s reservation.  A stop at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park gave use some exercise.   We climbed the highest dune and relaxed for a bit.  This is a park that shares the dune with dune buggy usage. As luck would have it,

Lake Powell..I found a beach!

We should have camped here...not free though.

We had no buggies on the dunes until we were almost back to our motorhome.  They are not supposed to get Within 100 feet of pedestrians and we were right on the dune ridge that they were hopping overJ  By the way, I would not call the dunes Pink or Coral but more a light terra cotta.  They were quite impressive.  Although there were spots in the campground we elected to not take one.  We had everything we needed right in our Motorhome.

Further south down the road to this park we found a spot in an ATV staging area to overnight.  When we arrived there were four cars/trailers in the parking lot.  I asked David who do you think is out on a Tuesday riding ATV’s.  He said, “Retired people or welfare people”.  I thought naaaaaaaa.   Well, this one time, he was right.  It was ALL retired people out having a picnic and tooling around and they were not young retired folks either.  We had this spot all to ourselves when they left and it was quiet.
