Tues, Nov 2:  Lake mean boulder beach campground to Forest Road 171 in AZ

Because I got woken up TWICE last night by the dogs, we decided to leave today.  It wasn’t a quick short bark it was ambitious, sustained barking.  No tolerance for someone else’s annoying, barking dogs.  Ours does not bark much at all so not putting up with that at all. If you cannot control your dogs, they don’t belong in a public campground.  Before we left, David resized our new kitchen blind (too long) and now we have one that fits the size of the windo.  The previous NEW one got dyslexicized when he bought it so it was about 3” short on each side but he installed it anyway because we needed something at the time.  Resizing took about ½ hour to cut and retuck the strings, remove blinds, etc.  Now it is great!

The drive through Kingman to Forest Road 171 was uneventful.  The scenery the whole way was pretty neat and Kingman was busy.  We are in about a mile on Forest Route 171 nestled under the ponderosa pines (I think that is what they are/not pinion for sure).  There are a few other rv’s along the road.  It is considerably cooler here considering we went from 1280 elevation at Lake Mead to 6909 Flagstaff, AZ.  I can tell because my flatlander breathing is somewhat labored when I am moving around a lot playing ball with Mali. I should also comment that route 40 can be pretty rough in spots.  We have been on it before but the trucks have done a number on it in the few years that we have not been on it.  MUCH better and cooler than Boulder Beach Campground.  I like cool as opposed to too hot.
