DAY 3:Drove from Cape Enrage to Moncton, NB (Walmart)

May 22, 2013

Awoke at 5:57 am New Brunswick time…despite putting Reflectix on the windows of bedrooms (back bedroom and above cab)…it was full daylight out and it was bright in our camper.  Temp in camper was a cool 48 degrees….roughly the same outside!  Our campsite by the rock beach in Cape Enrage (Cape Enrage Nature Preserve) worked well for us.   Reflectix is bubble wrap on steroids…think superbubble wrap with Reflectix coating on each side and used for insulating and blocking light (in our case both).

The motorhome is performing nicely and our rv travels to New Brunswick are working out very well in our funmobile.

If you get stuck with tide coming up, you can climb this!
Off we went heading for Hopewell Rocks.  I would highly recommend the walking tour included in the $9.00 entrance fee.   In late May there weren’t many visitors, the perfect time to come to the Atlantic Provinces.    High Tide was around 10 am during our visit so we could also walk out for low tide during daylight hours.  The pass gets you in for two days but if the tides are right…one day will work.  We spent much of the day at Hopewell Rocks.  Check their website for tides and ocean floor access times.  http://www.thehopewellrocks.ca/  We were the only RV there and maybe 10 cars…this is a fabulous time to visit.

And have the place almost to yourself.   They get over 140,000 visitors per year between May and maybe October…they had 500 during open time this year so far…which is double what they had last year. The Bay of Fundy gets the highest tides in the world…39 feet in Hopewell Rocks and one point in Nova Scotia gets 50 feet average…everywhere else in the world averages a whopping 3 feet.

These super tides are something most people don’t get to see often. Overnight in Moncton Walmart after finally getting a Canadian cell phone and $111 later!!!!  But we needed  to have one.
