Day 47: Kingman, Arizona

Day 47: Nov, 14, 2013

Another free boondocking site

The last time David was in Kingman area he stopped by a turquoise producing store to pick me up some great turquoise stones.  Soooooooooooo, we made a point to stop on our way down towards Yuma.  I selected some really nice things (beads, cabs) to work with.   Colbaugh Processing had some really nice product at reasonable prices (but not cheap).  I spent more than I wanted and shopped longer than I expected...but in the end was pleased with what I got.  Some great coral, turquoise, and other goodies to try out.

We love free camping!

We drove through Lake Havasu pretty but not much of interest there to us and we are heading south.

Lake Havasu area

Near Parker, AZ
Our overnight spot tonight is a free BLM campground called Plomosa Road north of Quartzsite, AZ.  This a fairly large blm campground with no specific spots or camping lots...just find a spot and get your free permit.  I would say it is easily at least several acres worth along Plomosa Road and we didn't go that far in.
There might be 10 campers here and they are very well spaced out.  It is quiet and we have verizon cell phone coverage and mifi works here.  What more can we ask for?  We watched the sun set over the mountains.

Plomosa Road BLM site...note the crowded conditions!
