Day 25 - Out on a headland near St. Lawrence/Burin Peninsula to Frenchman's Cove

Fortune Head Lighthouse
Day 25/May 28, 2016 Out on a headland near St. Lawrence/Burin Peninsula to Frenchman’s Cove We got up early this a.m. because it had started to rain and david was concerned about possible washout on part of the gravel road.

Couldn’t get any wifi so we settled into a picnic park past Port May, NL. I nice little park obscured by spruce trees. We took a walk on the walking trail because Donna was desparate to move…1 mile only. We would have walked longer on an ATV trail but it was 41 degrees /windy/spitty outside. We may nestle in for the day and night/rain and it is only 8:30 am! Not in a hurry to get back to civilization… We both really like this peninsula…will come back to do more hiking and hopefully the weather will behave. We visited to Fortune Head Ecological Preserve and Lighthouse and had a chat with the man working at the lighthouse (no longer keepers). He just makes sure things are working okay as they are all automatic these days. He makes a phone call if they are not. A cold, 41 degrees today with either heavy mist or serious rain…happy to be in the rv! It put a damper on our walking but at least we were dry and warm. Park overnight at the interpretive panel in Frenchman’s Cove.
